One of our featured artist’s Famous When Dead hailing from the UK has a solo show coming up called, “Sorry We’re Closed” opening at the start of September at No Walls Gallery. FWD says of his latest body of work, “With ‘Sorry We’re Closed’ I’ve tried to push my technical abilities to new levels, surpass previous work and add real substance to my paintings whilst maintaining an element of fun and excitement. I’ve matured as an artist without losing my roots and this latest collection of work shows that.”

Local lads EMMA (Jake & Jack) have dropped their debut track ‘Electric Moonlight Adolescence’ and its an epic blend of electro indie pop. Very danceable and reeks of that MGMT / Empire of the Sun vibe but its done well and definitely works, it’s catchy as sin. Skating Tron Style

Computer Gurus ENESS have broken the mould and my mind with this insane installation for the Tron Legacy Premiere in Melbourne. It features an interactive skate ramp which animates according to the skater’s movements, it is very much bringing the video game world into real life. Check it out you will not be disappointed..

Custom built software allows them to 3d map the ramp and track the skateboards in real-time. Each rider is equipped with an iPod Touch to measure air time and trigger effects, IR Lights and camera is used to track the skater’s position.

Another musician has joined the Onehundred inner circle, Josh Stewart. The voice of Brisbane rock quartet “the ninjas”, Josh is still kind enough to contribute to Brisbane’s lack luster electro/disco scene with his new solo project. Inspired by the likes of Calvin Harris, Gorillaz, Soulwax etc, expect Josh to make some noise in 2011. Hyper Realistic Closeups & Guerilla Tactics by Jonathan Fletcher

Jonathan Fletcher, born in Solihul, UK, currently residing in Melbourne, Australia paints these incredibly realistic close ups he also has a much more guerilla series called ‘Hero Face’ where he paints super hero features over current advertising. He frames and hangs these pieces in places like the brand’s store, it’s a very Banksy like approach to exhibiting his work. See that series here.

Beauty is Snow Blind

I found this really cool photography series called “Snow Blind” by Matthias Heiderich. A really intriguing contrast of white and colour makes these compositions look almost painted or digitally rendered. He really knows how to harness colours and a sense of serenity or apocalyptica in all his photography. Matthias is a photographer and musician based in Berlin. You can find his website here.

Directed by the renowned New York City-based actor Mike Rappaport, offered is a sneak peak at his upcoming documentary on one of hip-hop’s most beloved groups of all time, A Tribe Called Quest. The documentary was said to have taken several years to shoot and is almost towards completion. Mike Rappaport has been known to be a hip-hop fan since his early days. I spotted the work of Will Barras on changethethought.com and was immediately drawn in by his captivating yet haunting imagery. It’s a bit like putting the Harry Potter movies in a blender with Alice in Wonderland.
